In his article on New York’s intellectuals, James Atlas quotes me as saying that it was a tradition among New York intellectuals to marry money.
Obviously, Mr. Atlas misheard some remark or other in the course of our brief telephone conversation. I didn’t say that, I couldn’t have said that – it is so far from the truth.
