Walter Berns, the great constitutional scholar and defender of the American republic, died today. He was 95. Generations of students have learned from his work, and will continue to do so. Those of us who knew him looked up to him and admired him unreservedly. He was at once a distinguished scholar, a true patriot, and a deeply impressive man.
