Journalism and the Modern Novel

At Yale University’s Tercentenary Celebration, author Tom Wolfe discussed the notions of journalism and the modern novel. Mr. Wolfe talked about his years in graduate school and his eventual transition into the world of newspaper reporting. He discussed the contrasts between the world of journalism and that of the modern novel. Mr. Wolfe asserted that in order for the American novel to survive in the future, it must be “based on well-documented realism.” After the presentation Mr. Wolfe answered questions from members of the audience.
