Faith, Sex, and Freedom

Speech at Love and Fidelity Network's Seventh Annual National Conference on Sexuality, Integrity, and the University, Princeton University, November 8, 2014, YouTube.

Professor George will discuss the threats posed by the legal recognition of same-sex partnerships as “marriages,” especially when combined with “Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity” (SOGI) laws, to religious freedom and basic rights of conscience. These threats are in the domains of employment, accreditation of educational institutions, licensing, and government contracting. He will also address the use of economic and cultural power to stigmatize and marginalize defenders of chastity and conjugal understanding of marriage and bully them into acquiescence or silence. He will highlight the need for courage in bearing witness to the truth about marriage and sexual integrity, and the importance of effective advocacy in the cultural and political spheres.
