National Review Losing Buckley As Chief Editor

William F. Buckley Jr., the founder and ranking editor of National Review for 35 years, said last night that he would soon step down from his position and become the editor at large of the conservative biweekly magazine.

Mr. Buckley, who is 64 years old, disclosed his plans at the end of a banquet held at the Waldorf-Astoria celebrating the 35th anniversary of the magazine’s founding, He said the anniversary issue, which is to be published in two weeks, would be his last as the top editor.
