In the current debates on airpower, 2 phenomena, logical he and factually distinct from each other, are being frequently mistaken for one another. The 1st consists of the rise of military aviation, which has modified the role of the 2 traditional arms, and Army and Navy; the 2nd consists of the invention of a new explosive, atomic energy, which multiplies the firepower available for combat on land, at sea, and in the air.
